The weather matches the mood here in NY. On the eighth anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, there is a somber mood across the city. There are subtle reminders all over Manhattan of how terrible that day was.
Here at Yankee stadium there is that sad undertone, but also one of camaraderie. Before the game the colors were presented by the FDNY, NYPD and U.S. Navy. When the colors flew, the stadium erupted--same thing happened after the national anthem.
It was uplifting to see how resilient this city was after the attacks, and still is today.
So many innocent people were lost on September 11, 2001, but I do want to mention one---Vincent Cangelosi. He is Dennis Sarfate's cousin and was just 30-years-old when the hijacker's plane flew into the tower where he was a broker.
I didn't know Vincent, but he was in my prayers today as my heart went out to Dennis and the Sarfate family. My heart goes out to all the families of the victims.
